Maybe don’t be so stingy with all that grace you’re snuggled up so cozy in.

Just about every day I have someone feel the need to remind me that Jesus once told someone to “Go, and sin no more.”

When I ask how that’s going for them, “I am a sinner in need of a savior,” they’ll say, “just like every other living soul.”  They tell me how they daily ask for forgiveness and are a walking example of God’s mercy and grace. “I deserve so much less grace then I have been given, and I have been mercifully saved from what I deserve,” they faithfully recount.

Well then…

If we’re going to wrap ourselves all up in the love and undeserved grace the Lord has for us sinners — Which I have no problem with. We are beloved — maybe we could consider not being so stingy with all that grace we’re snuggled up so cozy in.

God’s grace is bigger than we think it is.

Let’s be honest here, that whole “Go, and sin no more” thing doesn’t really go all that well for any of us, does it? So it’s a good thing God’s grace is bigger than we think it is; bigger even than we sometimes want it to be. Covering that person in his sins, and that other person in all of theirs. Even the icky ones.

Even your icky ones.

So yes, by all means, snuggle up, snuggle in. Know deeply that you’re covered. Stick one foot out if you want to, just to, you know, equalize.

But there’s really no need to jerk at, wrestle away, and fight for those covers, ya’ll, all tugging and hollering out, “He isn’t going and sinning no more!” “She’s taking up too much of the grace!”

“Through the grace of our Lord Jesus … we are saved, just as they are.” ~ Acts 15:11

So settle down. There’s room enough for all of us under the comforter of His love and grace.

How about we rest in that and let others rest too.

Short and sweet! It seems that so many (including myself) often forget about the grace that has been extended to us. Thank you for this, Laura.

Scarcity mentality is killing all of us these days. Either we hoard grace or we try to wrestle it away from others os that we think we have more. There is a never ending abundance of grace to be shared. Let’s act like it!
